Inconfundabilul actor de comedie Steve Martin s-a născut la data de 14.08.1945 în Waco, Texas, Statele Unite ale Americii.
Ocupă locul 6 în topul 100 al celor mai buni actori de comedie. In adolescenta a lucrat la scoala The Magic Shop, în Disneyland, in care a învățat să facă animale din baloane si sa jongleze, ceea ce-i va folosi mai tarziu in filme. Nu toata lumea stie ca inainte de a deveni actor Steve Martin a castigat un premiu Emmy pentru scenariul showului TV „The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour”.
In anul 1978 lui Steve Martin i s-a oferit primul sau rol pe marele ecran in filmul muzical Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
A studiat la universitatea Garden Grove High School. Pentru a scapa de renumele de simplu comedian, Steve Martin a debutat in 1988 pe scena intr-o adaptare reusita a piesei Asteptandu-l pe Godot, dupa care in 1992 a repetat performanta cu piesa „Leap of Faith”.
